Finding a Beta.

I swear finding an editor is going to be one of the hardest things because you need to find some one who knows the characters but is also good at editing.

Don't let this deter you, keep writing. Assume no one is going to read your work, get the brunt of rejection out of the way.

There's a difference between "not wanting to write" and "wanting it to be finished"

Use both to continue writing. If you don't want to write then write what you do want, it's as simple as that.

Write whatever you want.

EDIT: okay you do need it to make sense though.

THE BITS.

Just write out the scene, maybe that'll help???

EDIT: it didn't.

EDIT EDIT: how do you write feelings without actually using feelings.

I don't know about you but what truly motivates me is dialogue.

But what really kills my inspiration are the bits.

You know, the extra feels, and unnecessary character interaction.

The bits.

I realized writing for myself makes me a lot happier then writing to entertain.

So don't focus on whether it'll get great feedback or become a fandom popular fic. Focus on getting your ideas completed and just bask in the feeling of achievement.

Achievement unlocked: You wrote 5 words today.

Just write.

Stop thinking about it, just write it and get it out.

Write it out!

You can do this, it doesn't have to be good, write it until it's good later focus on writing right now.

Don't worry, you aren't the only one who'd prefer to write fanfiction instead of that paper that's due tomorrow.

EDIT: or in four hours.

After finishing Chapter 2, if you're still feeling hype and wanna write more go for it.

But if you're a fool, like me, and decided to sign up for 25 prompt fills for Ladiesbingo be prepared to have to force yourself to write something else.

EDIT: it's not unpleasant

Sometimes when you finish something you'll get this sense of relief, like "thank god that's over."

That means keep writing. You don't want it to be over.

There are people who will reuse the word "supernova" three times in the same sentence to describe one thing, and that's okay. Let them do them.

Even if you worry about repeating the word "gaze" more then twice in one chapter.

Don't let anyone tell you that writing is easy. It's hard as shit because it relies on pure motivation and will power.

So now I'm just going to will myself to write.

Right now.

EDIT: any minute now

It doesn't matter if you're "good" at writing!!

Stop thinking about!!

Also, if you're a reader of fanfiction before a writer going back to reading might be extremely weird and awkward. Like meeting up with an ex after not hearing from them for two years. (But you still remember everything about them.)

Not being able to write makes me want to eat. Not eating makes me want to sleep.

And not sleeping just makes me tired.

PS: Real life problems happen, it's okay not to write sometimes but just don't forget about what you've already started.

Finish it.

You know that feeling you get when you look at your writing and think, "this is terrible" don't even worry about that yet.

Focus on finishing, focus on getting all your ideas down.

You can make it look nice later.

When you get better at writing.

Even when you finish a piece of fanfiction, no matter how short or small or shitty, be happy it's finished. Be proud that you are growing.

EDIT: okay just yell at yourself until you can't hear your own insecurities because that usually works best for me.

When the fanfiction that you've written is so bad you have to start over, don't stress just open a brand new document and let the blank page stare into your soul.

And if you don't have a soul, no problem, just post the fic and cringe every time you don't get a comment.

When you face lack of inspiration just re-watch the entire show, or re-read the entire book series.

Not as a way of avoiding writing, no no no but for pure inspiration sake.

EDIT: it didn't work. Just go back to writing based on pure lack of inspiration.

Just write it. It doesn't matter if it's good, it doesn't matter if people will like it, write it for yourself. Write it so you can look back and say, "yeah I wrote that."

It might not be enjoyable 100% of the time, hell MOST of the time you'll question yourself, and question whether you should continue.

But just finish it. Just get to the finish line.

Look back and say, "At least it's complete."

When finishing a fic make sure to never really know how to end it, so as your writing more words will appear but won't really make any sense. Do I add a kiss? Do I make some one die, how far am I willing to go to keep up my word count...

And then when you're finally done, open a new document and start over.

-AruWolf

Make up words and their meanings, just do it. No one's gonna notice or call you on it. The world is your playground.

EDIT: Okay this was a bad plan, nevermind that. Focus on sticking to pre-existing terminology for syfy and fantasy. It's there for a reason.

EDIT EDIT: scrutinization isn't a word
